7/5/2007· At one time I thought that one was OK for cold water only & the other was OK for both cold & hot water lines. I have never heard that PVC was not acceptable for water supply. I would never use PVC or CPVC outdoors myself though. CPVC & PVC are like
polyethylene pipe systems, PVC-U pipes are not widely used in the UK for water supply, drainage and sewerage under pressure. However, if they are considered for a project, it is important that current and suitable standards are selected.
CPVC (chlorinated polyvinyl chloride) pipe has the strength of PVC but is heat-resistant, which makes it acceptable in many regions for use on interior supply lines. Schedule 80 PVC is sometimes used for cold-water supply lines, but it isn’t allowed in some regions because it isn’t suitable for hot water.
Water was fed from rivers, springs and lakes to the vast network of towns, cities and garrisons. Usually this water ended in a central loion and piped to public fountains and baths. It was only the highest status and largest of houses that could be connected directly to this water supply.
PVC piping is often used in drainage, water supply, irrigation, chemical handling, vent tubing, duct work and waste management pluing supply appliions. Available PVC pluing supply products are schedule 40 PVC, schedule 80 PVC, furniture grade PVC pipe, CPVC pipe, drain waste vent ( DWV ) pipe, flex pipe, clear PVC pipe and double containment pipe.
PVC has an outstanding durability to abrasion and exposure to chemicals, as well as being both taste and odourless. Easy to install and fit, these are the best product to use in potable water systems. All our PVCu pressure pipe and fittings are fully compatible
25/8/2015· Pipes for Water Supply System Pipes which are commonly used in water supply system are given below. Cast Iron (CI) Pipes HDPE Pipes Galvanized Iron (GI) Pipes Copper Pipes Plastic or Polythene or PVC pipes Asbestos Cement (AC) Pipes Concrete Pipes 1.
Your new supply lines can last over 100 years (around 80 years for your copper lines) and won’t be liable to leak, crack, or poison your water supply. Other signs that you should replace your pluing pipes include discolored water, which can indie a corroding pipe, and bubbling drains, which can indie a problem with your main sewer line.
15/11/· Safest Pluing for Drinking Water. Copper, PVC (polyvinyl chloride), and PEX (cross-linked polyethylene) are the most widely used materials

supply pipe. This stop valve on closure should prevent the supply of water to all points of use. Anglian Water will fit an external stop valve (normally at the boundary) when the connection is made. It is important that all service pipes are clearly marked or
UPVC, prestressed concrete, and PVC pipe all required larger diameter liner plate (up to 70 inches compared to 64 inches for bar-wrapped, fiberglass, HDPE, and HDPE pipe). Budget comparisons of this concept design showed a difference of $34 per linear foot for material prices alone when comparing a 64- to a 70-inch casing.
Hot water feed lines can use chlorinated polyvinyl chloride (CPVC) pipes, crosslinked polyethylene (PEX), or copper piping while PVC can only be used on cold water appliions and is not typically used in water supply lines for homes.
A water pipe is any pipe or tube designed to transport treated drinking water to consumers. The varieties include large diameter main pipes, which supply entire towns, smaller branch lines that supply a street or group of buildings, or small diameter pipes loed within individual buildings.

PVC connections are made by using a primer that softens the PVC and then applying PVC glue that melts the joints and pipe together. PVC pipe should always be clearly labeled if it is used for both potable (drinkable) and non-potable water in the same building.
10/12/2005· Now i''m turning my attention to the supply water lines and i''m eyeing up the rigid pipe in my basement, trying to think of ways to make it easier. So first off, the obvious question to a pluing newbie like me is can you run pvc pipe for your water SUPPLY? can you transition from hard pipe to pvc and go all the way to the point of outlet (i.e faucet, showerhead)?
